Check out this postcard from Japan! This is among the Naruto/Gundam anime bundle I received – yeah I definitely got spoiled. And I love it. This is a card featuring a character from the franchise Final Fantasy, a very big name in the video game world. Specifically, this is Noel Kreiss, one of the main characters of Final Fantasy XIII-2 (yeah, there are a ton of these games!) The franchise was created by Hironobu Sakaguchi of Square Enix (at the time it was simply “Square”), which is a video game development company based in Japan. Final Fantasy is a series of role-playing games, or RPGs, that can be played as standalone games (you can play FF X without having played FF III, for example). The games take place in a science fantasy setting, and most of them involve turn-based combat, which is the kind of battles you would see in, say, one of the old Pokemon games. The franchise got its name from Sakaguchi’s explanation that if the game would not have sold well, he would have resigned from the game development industry – hence, the “Final” in “Final Fantasy”. I really hadn’t played much FF stuff until just recently when I decided to purchase FF VII for the very first PlayStation console! These games can be pretty long, so I would recommend them to dedicated gamers. Thank you so much for sending me this card, Yoshimi!
