This is it, the last blast from the past! This one was sent to me in 2000 from my grandmother when she visited Key West, Florida! Key West is the westernmost point of the slew of islands south of Florida, known as the Florida Keys (westernmost point of Florida Keys = Key West… “I’m doing a logic, guys!”) So this is a drawing of the storefront of Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville in Key West, the first of a chain of stores/restaurants to be established within this franchise. The Key West location has a restaurant and a retail section. The restaurant has your typical casual dining offerings, with a touch of Jimmy Buffett; for example, you can order a Cheeseburger in Paradise and, as you might guess, a margarita. My grandmother did well to write in her card that she did, in fact, finally get a margarita in Margaritaville. Good job, Mommom! By the way… this entire time I’ve been researching Margaritaville, I’ve been hearing the same loop of the song “Margaritaville” in my head. But since I don’t know most of the lyrics, it’s just this incoherent loop of “*mumble* *mumble* *mumble* Margaritaville” followed by the sounds of the recorder… or whatever instrument that is that plays in the chorus. I swear I’ve not been sipping a margarita while writing this post… Anyway, thank you Mommom for sending this to me and the family on your trip!
